Secretary-General and Security Council- US
Back in 2015 when I was a plebian freshman I was strongly compelled (forced) to sign up for the Security Council committee at LIMUN by the one and only Adam Peck. Little did I realize then just how much of an impact those three days where I nervously sat through committee begging not to be called on and somehow managed to stutter through 1 minute speeches, which felt like a lifetime, would have on not just my high school career, but my life.
Fast forward 3 years later and that kid who was horrified with public speaking and couldn’t seem to put 3 coherent words together in a speech is no more, in part due to the skills and confidence I’ve gained from LIMUN. The competence that I gained from Security Council has spilled over into everything else that I do, from Public Forum debate to being involved in Alabama Youth in Government.
I’m guessing if you are actually taking the time to read my biography then you probably know me, but for the two people who are reading this who have no idea who this kid is, I’ll share a few minor details about me. My life can be summed up in two words: running and debate. When I’m not running for the state champion cross country team led by Lord Colvin, I’m either (not) prepping for debate or at a debate tournament probably going 3-3. Oh, and I also have a weird dream to be a guitarist in a Blink-182 cover band one day for some reason.
Now, I have the privilege and the honor to serve as your Secretary General for LIMUN XXXII. Nevermind that, what I’m more excited about is chairing the US vs. USSR Joint Crisis committee with my debate partner and the legend himself, Arnob Guha. I somehow managed to get stuck with the US, so if you are a fan of capitalism and spreading democracy across the world make sure you sign up for the clearly superior side in this war and not the filthy communists that Arnob wanted for some apparent reason. Anyways, I’m so excited you are interested in our committee and I can’t wait to see some killer debating over whether or not we should start some good ol’ fun global thermonuclear warfare. #Kateb92
