Hello and welcome potential justices!
My name is Dain, and I’m so excited to be the chair of ICJ for LIMUN XXXII!
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It resolves disputes between members of the United Nations, give advisory opinions, and answers any legal questions that arise in accordance to international law. From territorial disputes to allegations of human rights violations, it is ICJ’s job as the highest UN court to provide fair and objective solutions using existing laws and past rulings. Put really simply, we debate on the best way to break up legal fights between countries.
Another very important role of ICJ in LIMUN is to arrest and punish people :D!! Each year, justices have swept into various committees in our intimidating judge robes to sentence misbehaving delegates to terrible punishments we come up with, such as mad libs-style love letters, lip syncing, animal imitations, and dancing.
So if you think ICJ is for you, go ahead and apply!
A bit about me: I’m a senior at LAMP High School, and I’ve lived in Montgomery for most of my life. This is my fourth LIMUN conference and my third year participating in ICJ. I’m involved in a handful of clubs at school, including Science Olympiad, HOSA, LAMP Post, Science Bowl, and Junior Civitan. Some of my favorite things are food, coffee, animals, tote bags, books, and youtube, and in my free time, I often watch movies and tv shows on my laptop, binge read random wikipedia articles, stare at food posts on Instagram, watch k-pop choreography videos, and take naps.
I hope everyone has a wonderful experience at LIMUN XXXII and I look forward to working with you guys!
