Mary Olivia Dudley
My name is Mary Olivia Dudley, and I am beyond excited to be serving as the chair of the World Health Organization!
I’ve spent most of my time at LAMP just trying to keep up with homework, but when I’m not studying, I’m dancing with the senior company at Alabama Dance Theatre. The rest of my copious free time goes toward reading, baking, babysitting the many children that my family fosters, or sleeping.
This is my fourth year participating in LIMUN and my second year on the team. Especially in my freshman year, LIMUN played a huge role in dragging me out of my shell and getting me comfortable with public speaking. As soon as I learned how to throw myself into the debate, even when I didn’t fully understand or love a topic, committee became much more enjoyable. The conference has so many exciting things to offer, from getting to meet people from other schools to getting chicken biscuits in the mornings, but it’s important to remember that the committee sessions are the focus. Don’t waste them sitting quietly in the back!
My hope for this year is to have passionate delegates who can fully engage with the topics and examine and discuss them from a number of angles in order to reach the most comprehensive and effective solutions. Most importantly, however, I want WHO to be a committee where everyone is welcome to express positions in a manner that is respectful of other countries and delegates.
I cannot wait to get started! See you in committee!
